CAD automation

Repeatable assemblies, generated from the parts you already approved.

Cadxor places your released STEP components by their connection geometry, generates parametric sections to the requested size, and produces a fused or multi-body assembly — on a CAD worker that runs inside your network.

How a job runs

Connector frames, not hand-placed parts.

  1. Resolve exact revisions. The job records which revision of each component, rule set and product family it used.
  2. Build parametric sections. Tubes and other linear members are generated at the configured length from OD, wall and limits stored on the component.
  3. Mate by connector. Each fixed part carries one or more connector frames — origin, axis and connection class. Cadxor aligns the frames, so a flange lands on the tube end the same way every time.
  4. Assemble and measure. The geometry kernel fuses the assembly (or keeps a multi-body compound) and measures the result. The overall length on the drawing comes from this measurement.
  5. Export and record. STEP assembly, component STEP and a metadata file with placements and bounding box are stored with the job, alongside logs and build identifiers.

Stored for each connection point

Origin & axis
Mating frame in the part's coordinates
Connection class
e.g. 1/2 in socket weld; compatibility matrix per class
Surface & diameter
Cylindrical socket, Ø12.70 mm
Insertion / overlap
Depth the mating part engages
Tolerance
Allowed diametral mismatch
Clocking
Free, or fixed orientation steps
Geometric signature
Bounding box and topology summary to detect a changed STEP

Cadxor deliberately avoids depending on STEP face indexes, which change whenever a model is re-exported.

The CAD worker

Runs where your CAD licences live.

Some outputs need Windows and desktop CAD — Autodesk Inventor files, for example. Cadxor does not force that work into a cloud container.

Outbound-only

The worker leases jobs over HTTPS and uploads results. It opens no inbound ports, and browsers never connect to it.

Heartbeats & retries

Leases expire if a worker stops responding; jobs return to the queue and retry with backoff. Permanent failures are reported with logs.

Isolated by design

Workers run fixed, versioned engine code against structured job data. Users cannot upload scripts or execute code on the CAD machine.

Engines

FreeCAD/OpenCascade geometry kernel for STEP; native Python drawing generation; optional ODA conversion for DWG and Autodesk Inventor automation for IPT/IAM.

Observable

Every job records worker, start/finish, input version, outputs, warnings, errors and build IDs for each engine component.

Scales out

Add workers for throughput or to separate customers. Each worker advertises the engines and capabilities it can run.

DWG output requires a licensed DWG converter on the worker, and Inventor output requires a licensed Autodesk Inventor installation. Cadxor uses the licences you hold; check the licence terms for automated use before enabling either.
